American Mah Jongg has become a nationwide phenomenon.  It is not  just for “ little old Jewish ladies” anymore.

 

Women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, couples, kids as young as 7 years old, teenagers who have discovered this ancient Chinese game of tiles on the Internet are eager to  learn more about the game of the craks, dots and bams.

 

Magazines, newspapers, TV shows and movies have made it the subject of articles and plots. What is the attraction of this game played originally by the aristocracy of ancient China??

 

First and foremost, it is a social game.  Groups of four or more get together in a social setting either at someone’s home, clubhouse or recreation center and for a couple of hours forget about their problems, worries and the rest of the world to concentrate on making a hand on the National Mah Jongg League’s latest card.  The game can be played for small stakes (usually a $5.00 limit) or just for fun with no money involved.

 

Studies in Singapore and other Asian countries have shown that playing Mah Jongg stimulates the brain cells and helps to keep players mentally active and alert.

 

Our firm started carrying the Mah Jongg line in 1996 with only eight items.  Since then, the demand for new and innovative products has grown so much that today we offer over 80 items to customers nationwide and worldwide. We also offer Mah Jongg lessons and have seen an incredible enthusiasm for the game from women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, couples and young kids.
